Idaho Falls Police K9 Zeke dies

Wednesday the Idaho Falls Police Department announced the passing of recently retired K-9, Zeke.

In a Facebook post the department says Zeke died Tuesday from old age. The department issued the following statement:

“It’s with great sadness that we report that our recently retired K-9, Zeke, passed away yesterday. He will forever be remembered as a wonderful and dedicated K-9. He served the department nine years working closely with his handler, Officer Johnson. They were a dynamic duo.”

Zeke’s passing comes less than a week after the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of recently retired K-9 Deputy Bart. Bart died Thursday, Jan 7 of an unforeseen medical condition.

Bart and his handler Sgt. Chris Smith worked together for the sheriff’s office for 10 years. Together they were instrumental in taking hundreds of pounds of drugs off the streets.

Zeke and Bart both retired on Dec., 30 2015.
