People concerned about Shelley School District’s administration, leadership

People who live in the Shelley School District are voicing their concerns about the district’s administration.

At least a hundred people attended Thursday night’s school board meeting. Some parents said they feel their children are not in a good learning environment. Some voiced concerns regarding instructional practices, and how the administration handled the athletic director with the battery charge involving a student, and some feel like the district leaders don’t listen to them.

“They’re not being handled,” said Jennifer Erikson, a parent with a child in the district. “That’s what we feel is a problem, and that’s why as a community we decided that we needed to come together and go to the public because all of our complaints are being swept under the rug”

But Shelley School District Superintendent Bryan Jolley said the district does listen to their concerns and takes them seriously.

“We thank the patrons for wanting to be involved,” he said. “I really do, I mean that. We appreciate them making the effort to come and express concerns.”

He said many of their concerns will be looked at if they haven’t already.
