Idaho ranks lowest in physician capacities

Republican State Rep. Kelly Packer says she’s still paving the way to make Idaho more wholesome in terms of its medical profession capacity.

In October of last year, Packer created a GoFundMe page to use funds for research Idaho’s medical data. She says she would like to keep as many medical students in state after to graduation so that they can aid with the lack of vital medical professions.

After a long journey of ups and downs, she continues to gain momentum she says. Even a variety of hospitals state-wide are offering to support her cause.

Medical students is where it all starts. She says last year, out of 165 students who passed their MCAT scores to attend medical school, 117 went absolutely no where. She’s working with health and legislative officials to turn that around, and by also planning to give top state universities a better medical program for students. A program of which, will benefit them to stay in state to provide more medical care to the community.

Packer plans to visit with Gov. Butch Otter in May for the next step in her journey.
