Deadline for primary election registration nears

The Republican and Constitution parties’ presidential primary election is March 8, but the deadline to pre-register to vote in it is Feb. 12.

To register to vote, you’ll need a piece of mail and your ID. Idaho state law allows people to register and vote the same day, so if you miss the deadline not all hope is lost.

Those in Bannock County can begin to vote early starting Feb. 1 at the county’s election office at 624 E. Center St. in Pocatello.

Julie Hancock, the Bannock County election administrator, has this reminder for future voters:

“Get to know the candidates that are on the ballot, there’s a lot of them this time around for March. Do some research.”

You can also apply for absentee ballots to be mailed to your home.

The Democratic Party will have a caucus on March 22.
