Tanner Cox sentenced to prison for involuntary manslaughter

Tanner Cox appeared in court today for sentencing after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. Judge Pickett sentenced Cox to 10 years in prison with a fixed term of two and half years.

A jury found Tanner Cox guilty of involuntary manslaughter in December 2015. Police arrested Cox after he beat Josh Olzak to death in a road rage incident in May of 2015.

Judge Pickett did give Cox credit for time served which is 267 days. He also ordered Cox to pay a $1,000 fine and a $2,000 civil penalty to be paid to Olzak’s child.

During the sentencing hearing both of Olzak’s ex-wives delivered emotional testimonies about Olzak. Cox also made his first formal apology to the Olzaks, his own family and the community.
