Man whose conviction was overturned arrested on new charges
A Jerome man whose first-degree murder conviction was overturned after more than 30 years is back behind bars on investigation of assault.
KTVB-TV reports that Jaimi Charboneau has been accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. He was booked into the Ada County Jail on Monday.
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office says a woman reported a man hiding in her closet on Monday. She said she knows Charboneau and recognized him. She said he threatened her with a weapon and she fled to a neighbor’s house.
In May, Charboneau was released from prison after a judge vacated his 1985 conviction for killing of Marilyn Arbaugh, his ex-wife, in Jerome County. He says the shooting was in self-defense.
