Two men arrested after brief high speed chase

Two men were arrested Tuesday night after a brief high speed chase in Bonneville County.

Zachary R. Raymond, 20, of Hamer and Ethan A. Zimmerman,19, of Rexburg were arrested. Two juveniles, one male and one female were returned to their parents. Another female juvenile was identified as a signed runaway from Idaho Falls. She was transported to the hospital for treatment and charged with underage consumption of alcohol or drugs.

According to reports, a deputy investigated a parked car in the intersection of Lincoln and Foothill Road at around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. The deputy saw two partially clothed female occupants, who made statements about wanting to return home. The deputy also noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

The driver ignored commands to shut off the vehicle and sped away from the scene. After a short time, the deputy gave up a chase due to safety concerns.

Other deputies located the car near the dead-end at East 9th South. The vehicle again left the scene at high speed, but left the three juveniles behind in a field.

Deputies stopped the vehicle by deploying spike strips near the intersection of Bone Road and Sunnyside.

Raymond was arrested and charged with felony eluding, possession of marijuana, mushrooms and drug paraphernalia, driving without privileges, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Zimmerman was arrested for possession of marijuana, mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia, underage consumption of alcohol or drugs, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
