Bonneville County Sheriff and IFPD seek wanted man

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Falls Police Department are searching for a wanted man, 30-year-old Joey Dunaway.

Dunaway is wanted on several felony and misdemeanor warrants.

Dunaway was spotted in a vehicle in the area of Hoopes and Parkwood, Thursday afternoon. He attempted to flee and crashed into another vehicle at that intersection. Dunaway ran from the crash, heading north.

Chandler Evans and Mckenna Aron were outside playing catch, when someone interrupted their game. “He just ran off, he got off his seat and just ran” said Evans. “My friend Ozzie is a grown up, he just ran after him but he couldn’t catch up, the fastest man in the meadows.”

Michael Peters is new to Idaho Falls and was the man Dunaway hit after fleeing from police. “He ran the stop sign there, and I hit him and the car came to stop at the sign. He got out and started running” Peters said. “I was like oh-gosh, I just got in an accident, then you see the other car and you look over there and you see somebody jump out and start running and it’s like well do i chase him or not?”

There were no reported injuries in the crash. IFPD is handling the situation at this time. If you have any information on Dunaway or his whereabouts contact Dispatch at 529-1200 or Crime stoppers 522-1983, or ifcrime.org.
