3 children buried in snow in Island Park

One child has died and two other are in fair condition after being buried by falling snow in Island Park, Friday evening.

Just after 5 p.m., the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received a call that three children had been buried under snow that had slid off a cabin roof on Upper Teton Ave.,in the Mack’s Inn area of Island Park.

Responders located all three children under the pile of snow.They were air-lifted due to their injuries.

Sheriff Len Humphries tells Local News 8, one girl was revived at the scene by rescue workers before being flown out. Another boy had a broken leg.At approximately 10:11 P.M., the Sheriff’s Office was advised that a 2-year-old child had died. The other two 7-year-olds are now in fair condition in EIRMC’s pediatrics.

Fremont County Patrol deputies, Island Park Fire Department, EMS, Madison ALS and Life Flightwere dispatched to the scene on Upper Teton Ave.

Names of minor children are not released by Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
