Rep. Linden Bateman not seeking re-election in 2016

Rep. Linden Bateman, a member of the Idaho House of Representatives, said Monday that he will not seek re-election in 2016.

Bateman said he’s not seeking re-election because of family concerns.

“Other people should have the opportunity to serve in the Idaho Legislature, ” he said.

Bateman represents District 33 seat B in Idaho Falls.

He was first elected in the House 40 years ago and severed five terms between 1977 and 1986, including four years in house leadership as majority caucus chairman. After a 25-year break, Bateman was again re-elected to the house in 2010.

Bateman is 75 years old.
