Steven Dalling announced his candidacy for the Jefferson County Prosecutor Monday morning. Dalling says he was the first candidate to officially file his candidacy in the county.

Dalling was born and raised in southeast Idaho. He is an alumni of Ricks College/BYU-Idaho and the University of Idaho College of Law. His professional experience includes a clerkship for District Court Judge Gregory Moeller, a successful and ongoing private civil practice, and his current post as the Jefferson County Deputy Prosecutor handling all the felonies and juvenile matters. He has also interned for the Bonneville County Prosecutor’s office, District Court Judge Brent Moss, and Congressman Mike Simpson.

“I have already been serving the county for two years and I would like to continue,” says Dalling. “there needs to be a smooth transition away from the prior prosecutor without compromising all the pending cases and I can do that while also making the necessary changes to restore public confidence in the office.” Dalling has declared that he will suspend his private civil practice when elected.

The primary election for the republican nomination will be May 17, 2016. Two others,Ashley Graham andPaul Butikofer, have also stated they will be running for the office.
