Input sought on possible Portneuf River projects

After collecting peoples’ suggestions and ideas for the Portneuf River Vision Study, the city is now asking for input regarding possible river projects.

Possible projects include adding river access points, adding bridges and making a riverfront shopping area.

People are being asked to pick their two favorite short-term and long-term projects on the Portneuf River Vision Study website.

Hannah Sanger, the city’s environmental coordinator, said the excitement from Pocatellans was evident from the first-round of comments.

“(The excitement) came over loud and clear with people’s interests, whether it’s interest in making sure the river doesn’t flood again, having a cleaner river, or having more access points,” Sanger said.

If you prefer to give your comments in-person, there will be an open house for these projects on May 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pocatello Community Charter School.

People can also email comments to portneufriver@pocatello.us
