Update: Father arraigned on charge of felony injury to a child

Update: The father of an injured toddler was arraigned Tuesday afternoon on charges of felony injury to a child. According to the Idaho Repository, Francis Ernest White IV was arraigned on charges in Power County. White pleaded not guilty to charges and bond was set for $250,000. A preliminary hearing for the case has been set for May 11th.

Original Story: The American Falls Police Department has arrested 18-year-old Francis Ernest White IV for felony injury to a child after the man’s child had to be Life Flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Late Tuesday night an officer with the American Falls Police Department stopped a vehicle in the area of McKinley and Fall’s for erratic driving. The officer was greeted by the driver, who handed over a toddler who was suffering from a severe medical condition. The officer called for an ambulance and began to give the child first aid.

The toddler was first taken to Power County Hospital by ambulance and later flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City by Life Flight. The child is currently in critical condition.

Francis Ernest White IV was arrested by the officer and is currently being held at the Power County Jail on charges of felony injury to a child.

The investigation of this case is ongoing.
