Six traffic signals to temporarily go dark in Idaho Falls

The city of Idaho Falls and Idaho Transportation Department will conduct a traffic signal study for the next two weeks.

The study is to see if certain stoplights can be removed.

Traffic Signal Study Schedule:
The traffic signals at the following intersections will be taken temporarily out of service

May 9 through May 12 stoplights at 17th Street and June Avenue; Broadway and Shoup Avenue; and Broadway and Lindsay Boulevard will go dark. Those intersections will go back to normal on May 13.

Traffic signals at 17th Street and Ponderosa Drive; Yellowstone Avenue and B Street; Yellowstone Avenue and A Street will be out May 16 through May 19.

At each intersection, traffic signals will be covered up with black bags.

Temporary stop signs will be placed on the minor street approaches to the intersection,
and traffic will flow on the major street as if there were no signal there.

Do not treat these intersections as a four-way stop.
