Thursday is the day to give

A state-wide non-profit event is back Thursday. The 4th Annual “Idaho Gives” has raised more than $2 million throughout the state in the past.

Thousands of people are expected to support Idaho’s non-profit organizations by making an online donation.

One day a year, the “Idaho Gives” event gives back to all non-profit organizations who have worked so hard throughout the year. Organizations by the dozens are participating.

“We’re just really happy to be part of the Idaho Gives, worthy non-profits in the states that are taking part. We just happen to be one of them,” said Mark Dahlquist, Exec. Dir., of NeighborWorks in Pocatello.

The Idaho Nonprofit Center started the giving campaign in 2013, and it’s grown everyday.

“And more importantly, the amount of prize money for sponsors for the matching contributions. So just thinking, it’s getting bigger and more visible every year,” said Dahlquist.

Donations will have an even greater impact thanks to a pool of award money provided lots of sponsors and individuals.

Dahlquist says the funds made by NeighborWorks last year went to the Avenues For Hope organization.

This year, he says it’s all going toward making more homes available for those in need.

“It’s all about housing for us. It’s the bedrock to success for any community. All the nonprofits in pocatello and sei are starting to see the excitement. But i guess we’ll see on thursday how much fruit we’ll bear. Hopefully it will.”

On the website you can select which ever organization you’d like to donate to. The minimum is $10, but the maximum is the difference it will make.

Anyone can donate until 11:59 Thursday night.
