Wind downs tree limbs; closes Interstate for 6 hours

Strong winds were causing problems around the area on Monday.

The strongest seemed to be Idaho Falls north.

Idaho Transportation Department closed Interstate 15 between Idaho Falls and Roberts today because of blowing dust. It was closed between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The wind caused a tree limb to break and crash onto a power line in Idaho Falls.

It ended up knocking out power to a duplex home on the 700 block of Lee Street.

Fighters worked to remove the limb from the home’s entry way.

No one was hurt.

The wind also responsible for another tree coming down on 5th West just south of 65th South in Bonneville County.
