Napoleon Dynamite bus for sale

Idaho isn’t usually known for auctioning off Hollywood items. But on Saturday morning, the Prime Time Auction in Pocatello was selling something well known.

If you’ve ever seen the movie Napoleon Dynamite, you might remember the school bus scene. An auctioneer at Prime Time says a Pocatello Regional Transit (PRT) bus being auctioned, and it was the one used in the movie.

For how much you might ask? How ever much the buyer wants for it, and sold to the highest bidder, of course.

The auctioneer says the bus was borrowed for the movie in 2004, and returned to the PRT.

With the “J-Low Campus” destination header on top, it is unknown where the bus was filmed at during the movie. But according to IMDB.com, overall filming locations were actually in Preston and Franklin, ID, Richmond, UT and Sykesville, PA.

People at the auction Saturday were busy checking out old items, and never even knew a piece of Hollywood was up for sale. Nor would they have recognized it, as the PRT bus looked like any other bus from the outside. But inside, banners were set up in the seats to showcase it had been in the movie.

People like Rudy Gauna and Debbie Coburn were busy shopping away getting deals on what they needed. Both unlikely interested in buying a bus.

“A headache rack. It goes on the back of a transport or semi. They normally sell for about a grand, I got it for $500,” said Gauna.

“Clothes, a bag of clothes, fishing poles and some hand drills,” said Coburn.

Meanwhile, the Napoleon Dynamite bus, lot number 2525, was about to be up for sale at any moment.

Prime Time Auction was contacted in the late afternoon on Saturday to find out how much the bus was sold for. But no information has been given yet.
