Driver rescued from SUV submerged in Jefferson County canal

An SUV ended up in a Jefferson County canal when it hit another car.

The accident happened at 437 N. Yellowstone Hwy. in Rigby just after 5 p.m.

Deputies said the driver of the SUV didn’t see the car stopped to make a turn.

The man in the SUV was rescued from a passerby who saw the accident happen jumped into the canal and broke the window, officers said.

The driver of the car was not injured and was warming up in the ambulance. Officers say he is able to go home tonight.
