Actor Erik Estrada to help St. Anthony Police launch new task force

Actor Erik Estrada will help the St. Anthony Police Department launch a new Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Estrada, best known for his role in the 1970’s drama “CHiPs”, will be formally sworn in as a Reserve St. Anthony police officer in a ceremony scheduled Saturday, July 2nd in St. Anthony.

Regional law enforcement agencies, city and county officials will be on hand for a swearing-in ceremony at St. Anthony City Hall beginning at 11 a.m. Estrada will sign autographs and meet with the public at South Fremont High School from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3 at the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.

St. Anthony Police Chief Terry Harris said Estrada and his teammate, former stunt man, and retired police officer Daryl Williams decided to fight child pornography on the internet while Estrada worked as a deputy sheriff in Virginia.
