Man arrested for aggravated battery after pointing a gun at clerk

Pocatello Police charged 21-year-old Joseph Scott Lopez with aggravated assault after a day-long search for the man Thursday.

Police were called to the Pit Stop convenience store at 1309 North Arthur at around 7 a.m. Thursday. According to reports, the store clerk was worried about possible drug activity after a man and a woman closed themselves off in a store restroom for an hour.

When the couple finally left, the clerk asked the couple not to return. The clerk told police Lopez then pointed a gun at him before leaving the store.

Chubbuck Police spotted Lopez at a drive-in at 5231 Yellowstone at about 7 p.m. Thursday night. Pocatello Police took Lopez into custody just before 9 p.m. and transported him to the Bannock County Jail.
