What men want on Father’s Day

This weekend is Father’s Day and fathers around the country will be going out to dinner, going out to sports games and maybe even getting that new tool set. Whatever it is, two fathers in Pocatello say they appreciate the simple things that money can’t buy.

“Spend time with the family.”
“Just give me a picture you drew for me in school.”

It’s that simple. And simple are the things that might be little, but for Father’s Day, it means a lot.

“I work all the time so it would be nice to have a couple days off to spend with the kids,” said Bryan Boodry.

“You know, all I really want on Father’s Day: it’s game 7 on Sunday night. So, all I really want is the remote control for just 2 or 3 hours,” said Brett Smith.

Boodry and Smith both work at the Chevy dealer in Pocatello. They’re proud to sell you a car, but today, they were willing to take some time out from the sales pitch to talk Father’s Day. And also, what men want on that fantasy wish list.

“You’re looking at the Camaros, the Corvettes. Since it’s summer time, maybe a truck to tow Dad’s boats or 4-wheelers,” said Boodry.

“Probably around here, the 4-ton pickup. You know, once the kids move out of the house, you’ll see a lot more Dads popping in to get some Corvettes and sports cars, things like that,” said Smith.

But Smith says Dads don’t need cars to feel recognized on their special day.

“You know, we don’t have to have gifts. Just be nice to us. Let us do our thing and we’ll be happy,” said Smith.

According to Brainstatistics.com, over $1 billion was spent on dinner and sporting games alone last year on Father’s Day in the U.S.
