Crash near Irwin sends one to hospital

Idaho State Police responded to a crash near Irwin early Wednesday morning that sent one Rigby man to the hospital.

According to ISP, 19-year-old Louie Armstrong, of Rigby, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 26 in a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Van when he fell asleep. The vehicle struck the side of a rock cliff at milepost 389. Airbags were deployed and Armstrong was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Armstrong was wearing his seatbelt.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
