Judge rejects Yeates plea, vacates sentencing

Sentencing for former soccer coach Alisha Yeates did not proceed Friday morning after the judge rejected her guilty plea from March.

Retired Judge Jon Shindurling presided over the Friday hearing filling in for Judge Nye. Shindurling stated that the plea was being rejected citing court rules.

Shindurling then assigned a new judge to the case, Judge Bruce Pickett. A status conference meeting will be held with Judge Pickett on June 30th at 2 p.m.

Yeates was originally charged with six felony counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16. According to court records the plea deal would have reduced those charges.
