Portneuf Wellness Complex hosts first 4th of July beach party in Pocatello

A beach party with a DJ is how a lot of people in Pocatello celebrated their 4th of July. The Portneuf Wellness Complex held a beach party with live music and events from noon to 5 p.m. on Monday.

The complex offered something for people of all ages to do. There were games like limbo and tug-of-war for the kids. Berrie’s also had kayaks and paddle boards people could rent to take on the water. Many people just took advantage of the sunshine and went for a swim or relaxed on the grass.

There were also several concessions stands and vendors around the complex. All the activities and live music made for a fun time for families.

Allison Schaack tried out the kayaking and said it was a blast. She said her family comes to the complex often and they love it. So they were excited to come for the beach party, and were pleasantly surprised at all they had to offer.

“This is really fun,” Schaack said. “We didn’t know what to expect but it is really fun. The music and the tug-of-war and people are out just having a good time, and the weather’s perfect so it’s been really fun – a really enjoyable day.”

The complex made sure guests were safe. Plenty of staff members and volunteers were on hand to help with and monitor the activities. The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office was also there for security.
