2 trucks crash on I-15 near Malad

Update 7-13-2016 5:10 pm: Idaho State Police that the accident has been cleared and all lanes are open again.

Update 7-13-2016 2:20 pm: Idaho State Police are still working to clear an accident that is blocking one lane of southbound 1-15 near Malad Summit.

According to ISP, at around 10:30 a.m. officers responded to a two commercial vehicle at milepost 26, near Malad Summit. Robert Stone, age 25 of Live Oak, CA, was traveling southbound in a 2013 Peterbilt commercial vehicle with a single trailer. Robert Hunsaker, age 56, of Tremonton, UT, was traveling southbound in a 2003 Peterbilt commercial vehicle pulling two hopper trailers full of grain. Stone failed to yield for slower moving traffic and struck Hunsaker’s rear hopper trailer. Stone’s commercial vehicle jack knifed and came to rest with the trailer blocking the right lane.

The drivers of both commercial vehicles were wearing their seatbelts. The right lane of southbound Interstate 15 is still currently blocked.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Troopers said Robert Stone, 25, of Live Oak, California was driving a semi-truck and didn’t slow down. He hit the back trailer of a truck carrying two trailers full of grain.

Stone truck jack-knifed and the trailer blocked the right lane.

It happened at milepost 26 at about 10:25 a.m.

Robert Hunsaker, 56, of Tremonton, Utah was driving the grain truck.

Both driver were wearing their seatbelts.
