Fight For Families fun run

The Fight for Families Fun Run was held Saturday morning in Rexburg. The 5K run is supported by Rexburg community to raise money goes directly to the Rexburg Family Crisis Center.

The Family Crisis Center is a nonprofit organization that provides relief and support to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.

This year’s theme was superhero, participants in the run dressed up like their favorite Marvell character.

Race organizer Kevin Meek said he started out as a volunteer at the Family Crisis Center.

“My friend Taylor and I thought lets put together a fun run in order to raise funds for the Family Crisis Center,” Meek said.

The Great Harvest, Fat Cats and Revelation Radio were at the event to show their support.

Paul and his wife, Kirsty Collette, who both participated in the run said it’s important for the community to get involved.

“Domestic violence along with other things of that nature will exist no matter where you live. But people just need to know that there are organizations like the Family Crisis Center that are going to step in and help you out no matter what,” Kirsty said.

“You know you can’t turn a blind eye, and I know a lot of people would like to think Rexburg is a bubble but it’s not, it happens here too,” Paul said.
