Security bond may be waived for POW*MIA

A security bond may be waived for the POW*MIA by Pocatello city leaders.

Back in May, it was required to purchase the security bond. It was basically a pot of money set aside if any damages should occur during their events this summer at the Pocatello Raceway.

The security bond would have paid for law enforcement personnel and would not have relied on tax payer dollars. Since it may be waived at Thursday’s council meeting, POW*MIA’s Hiedi Young says the meeting will mostly be a formality.

“We will just sign basically a memorandum of understanding that should the City of Pocatello incur any costs, as a result of our event, then that will then, fall back on us to pay for that,” said Young.

Young says their events start the 29th at the Pocatello Raceway.

The special use agreement is still being drafted but it would require POW*MIA to pay the cost for six officers and any additional law enforcement response in the event of an incident.
