UPDATE: Lemhi County Sheriff’s office recovers body of drowning victim

UPDATE: The Lemhi County Sheriff’s office recovered the body of a drowing victim.

Deputy Steve Penner said the body was found Saturday night.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Lemhi County Sheriff’s office and the US Forest Service are searching for the body of a drowning victim in middle fork of the Salmon River.

The sheriff’s office first received reports of a boat accident on the Salmon River on July 19th at about 3:40 p.m. The victim of the accident is Mike Olson of Lyman, Wyoming. At this time he is presumed drowned.

The sheriff’s office has been searching for the body since the 19th but so far has been unsuccessful. The team is searching a roughly ten mile stretch of the Salmon River. A rescue helicopter from Two Bear Air has been assisting with the search.
