New boat ramp opens at Blacktail recreation area

Boating at the Blacktail Recreation Area is going to be a little easier now that the new boat ramp is open.

“Couldn’t get in and out of the boat reservoir near quick enough when we got busy,” parks and recreation operator Jeremy Neibaur said. “So they put in a grant for it and we got it.”

This is something that will help accommodate the large number of people who come out to enjoy the water. Neibaur said Blacktail gets so crowded that people are sometimes turned away, and before this new area opened, there was a lot frustration getting in and out of the water.

“They’d get in fistfights,” he said. “There’d be a lot of contention trying to get in and out. People always thought they were more important than the next person.”
