Accidents, Construction slowing down traffic on I-15

There have been at least six car accidents in just two weeks all in the same area on I-15.

That stretch is from just North of Blackfoot all the way to the rest stop. It’s also the same area that has a lot of construction going on.

We don’t know if the construction is causing these accidents, but Idaho State Police is urging people to be careful. Troopers said there are things drivers do in construction areas that are dangerous.

“A lot of times, motorists are coming in too fast, they haven’t pre-planned and made their lane changes,” Lt. Chris Weadick said. “They’re following too close, driving too fast for [the] conditions there, and we’re seeing a lot of preventable crashes.”

ISP said another problem that causes accidents in construction zones is distracted driving.
