Inmate sentenced for Bingham County stabbing found dead

The Idaho Department of Correction has asked the Ada County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the death of Roger Vincent Arellano.

Arellano,62, was an inmate in the Idaho Maximum Security Institution. He was found unresponsive in his cell at 5:21 a.m. Tuesday.

The institution is a 516-bed maximum-security, men’s prison south of Boise. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office investigates all unattended deaths of inmates in the South Boise Correctional Complex.

Arellano was arrested in Firth in February of 2014 after a three-hour standoff with the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. He was wanted for questioning in connection with a stabbing incident earlier that night.
