Voters decide Iona recall & Madison levy

Iona Mayor Brad Andersen has survived a recall attempt.

In a special election Tuesday, 208 people voted to recall Andersen. 344 voted to retain him in office. At least 267 votes and a majority were required to remove Andersen from office.

And, voters in the Madison School District #321 approved a $1.9 million, two-year supplemental levy. By a vote of 1,021 in favor to 234, voters renewed an existing levy passed in 2014.

The school district said the money raised would be used to make upgrades, including security cameras, computer labs and six new school buses.
