People enjoy their Eastern Idaho State Fair favorites

The Eastern Idaho State Fair is happening now! The fair kicked off its opening day with its annual parade through the streets of Blackfoot.

Hundreds of people got there early to get good views of the parade floats. Boy Scouts, law enforcement officers, the local high schools and many other organizations participated. The fair was open for all to enjoy after the parade was over.

State fair time is a time of the year where everyone has at least one thing they’re excited to see or try.

“I’m most excited about people spending their hard-earned money on $9 turkey legs,” fairgoer Landon Durtschi said.

Aside from shelling out all your money on the irresistible fair food, the fair is a wonderful place for families to come together and have some quality time.

“We love to look around at all the animals — the 4H. And then probably the food. We’ve already had a few things and the scone bites have been our favorites so far,” said a fairgoer attending with her family.

Quality time that involves even more fair food. That favorite seems to take the cake! But hey, we can’t forget about the adrenaline-rush side of the fair either.

“Going on all the rides,” said Rylan. “Um, probably the rides,” said Kaidree. “Mine’s the rides,” said Kaitlen, while Madison said, “The swings — all the rides.”

For the next week carnival games, music, animals, and more food — there will be something here each family member can enjoy.

Don’t forget to join the news team at the fair on Wednesday, it will be Eyewitness News Day. Bring a school supply to get into the fair for only $3. Also, Thursday is Local News 8 Day — bring a can of food to get into the fair for $3.

We’ll be there between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days, so be sure to stop by and say “hi.”
