Educator to mount write-in candidacy for State Senate

Jim Francis has announced he will run as a write-in candidate for State Senator in District 33 this November.

The seat is currently held by Republican Senator Bart Davis, who has not faced a challenger since 2010.

A long-time educator, Francis called himself “a voice for thoughtful, compassionate government”.

“We don’t see many organized write-in campaigns in politics today,” said Miranda Marquit, the Chair of the Bonneville County Democrats. “Francis is well-known, though, and it will be interesting to see the results of this example of democracy in action.”

The Idaho deadline to file as a write-in candidate for the General Election is October 11.
