Update 09/06/2016 7:30 pm: Missing Idaho Falls man Allen Hansen was found dead Tuesday. Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office says the man died from injuries sustained in an ATV crash.

Hansen was first reported missing on Sunday when he didn’t return on time from a trip out on an ATV. The Lemhi County Sheriff’s office says he was found not far from the area he told family he was going to.

Update 9/6/2016 3:50 pm: An Idaho National Guard helicopter and Civil Air Patrol airplanes have joined the search Tuesday for 60-year-old Allen Hansen.

Lemhi County Sheriff Lynn Bowerman said Hansen is believed to be from the Idaho Falls area.

He was last seen Sunday night, riding a yellow four-wheeler in the Gilmore area.

In addition to the aircraft, Search and Rescue team and family members are searching on the ground. So far, there has been no sign of the man.

Bowerman said his main worry is that Hansen may have fallen into an old mine shaft. He said a recent Bureau of Land Management survey indicated the area was full of abandoned mine shafts.

A snow storm hit the area Sunday night, but had mostly melted up to the continental divide by Tuesday afternoon.
