Jackson Town Council encourages cyclists

Two initiatives may encourage more bicycle traffic in Jackson.

Eagle Scout Evan Scott has won Town Council approval to install bike racks at several START Bus locations as part of his effort to fulfill an Eagle Scout community service project. The first two will be constructed at Albertson’s on Buffalo Way and at K Mart and Hampton Inn, both on Maple Way. Scott worked with Pathways Coordinator Brian Schilling to plan and execute the project.

“We’ve been focusing on efforts to enhance and integrate our transportation plan and this young man has stepped up to show us the way,” said Councilman Jim Stanford.

The Council also unanimously approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Friends of Pathways. The tow will allocate $22,558 to help set up and assist with operations for a Bike Share program in Jackson. The funding will help with start-up operational costs.
