Wind stirs Star Valley fire activity

Dry, breezy conditions fanned the Tin Cup Mountain fire in the Star Valley area Wednesday.

The Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center said the fire has grown to 15 to 20 acres in size. It is located in Marshall Canyon approximately 2 miles northeast of Tin Cup Mountain and 8 miles northwest of Freedom, Wyoming.

People in in the Star Valley area may have noticed more fire activity.

The Lanes Creek fire is also located in the same region, about 10 miles south of Tin Cup Mountain in the Lanes and Lau Creek drainage. One of the early fires of the summer, it has grown to 216 acres.

Smoke is visible from the Tincup Highway, Lanes Creek Cutoff Road and from the Freedom-Thayne area.
