Former Jefferson County Sheriff seeks sentence review

Attorneys for former Jefferson County Sheriff Blair Olsen want part of his criminal sentence set aside.

Olsen was sentenced to 15 days in jail and 3 years of probation in June of 2015 after being found guilty in a jury trial on charges of misuse of public funds.

Olsen has served the time, but his attorneys want him released from probation. They claim there is no reason for him to be supervised.

His sentence review will be heard by 7th District Judge Dane Watkins on October 6.

At the same time, Olsen’s attorneys are questioning the constitutionality of the law that convicted him. The Idaho Supreme Court is expected to take up that case in December.
