Science camp underway for Woodland Hills Elementary 5th-graders

Fifth-grade students at Woodland Hills Elementary School are getting outside for a unique learning opportunity.

The kids, parents and faculty have been going to Jefferson Lake for science camp.
The idea is provide the students with hands-on activities to teach them. Topics include minerals, birds, insects and bugs. There was also kayaking, learning about water safety and hiking.

“We want hands-on activities to help with the science curriculum,” fifth-grade teacher Gerrolyn Anderson said. “So it becomes real to them.”
