Former Blackfoot soccer coach pleads guilty to sexual abuse of a child

Former Blackfoot High School girls’ soccer coach Alisha Yeates pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16.

Bingham County Prosecutor Cleve Colson said Yeates admitted to sexual contact with that victim, who was 13 to 14 years old at the time. The charges were brought by one of her former players. The incidents date back to 2013.

Yeates was originally charged with five felony counts in Bingham County.

Judge Bruce Pickett set sentencing for October 11.

Yeates faced two additional charges for similar incidents that occurred in Bannock County. Colson said those charges were to be dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
