Getting ready to vote
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are set to battle it out at the first 2016 Presidential Debate, which begin Monday night.
With Election Day just weeks away, you may want to make sure you have met all the requirements before you cast your vote.
“But this is going to be probably a record setting election”, Supervisor of Bonneville County Elections Office Brenda Prudent said.
Prudent said there have been more than 43,000 people already registered to vote in Bonneville County. The number is expected to grow.
Time is ticking with only 42 days until Election Day. Make sure you have what you need to register.
“They can come in and register just by filling out a registration card having their drivers license because it’s requires an Idaho drivers license,” Prudent said.
If you do not have an Idaho license, Prudent said you would have to put down the last four digits of your social security number and fill out an affidavit.
Voter Registration Requirements:
Be a U.S. citizen Live at an Idaho address by October 9 or Be 18 years old by Election Day
Forms of Voter Identification:
A Idaho driver’s license or Idaho photo I.D. A U.S. passport or U.S. photo I.D. A tribal photo I.D. A current student photo I.D. issued by an Idaho high school or postsecondary school or If you do not have a photo I.D., you will be asked to sign a sworn statement
If you plan to leave town, you may want to fill out a voter absentee ballot.
“Early voting they will be able to vote up until 5 pm. the Friday prior to election,” Prudent said.
October 14 is the last day to pre-register to vote. In Bonneville County, the polls are scheduled to from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
