Local Millennial Runs for U.S. Congress

We are starting to see more candidates campaigning as the general election gets closer. One Democratic nominee running for U.S. Congress made a stop in Eastern Idaho Tuesday.

Local News 8 caught up with Jennifer Martinez at the Bonneville County Democrats Office.

Martinez is challenging U.S Representative Mike Simpson’s 18 years of office.

The Magic Valley native said she wants to make sure everyone is represented in the second district.

She said she wants to do it by making changes to issues that directly impact those that are not currently represented.

“As a recent graduate from a university, you know, having to take on student loan debt, in order to pursue higher education and it’s not fair that those who are trying to better themselves through education are stuck with loans for the rest of their lives”, Martinez said.

Martinez also said she wants to help equalize women’s pay with men.
