Police arrest man suspected of raping blind woman

Police in south-central Idaho have arrested a man accused of raping a blind woman and punching a service dog.

The Times-News reports that a woman who is blind told police that 50-year-old Jimmy Jay Voss, of Rupert, had raped her while alone in her home in Burley last Thursday. Two women who had gone out shopping returned to find Voss fondling the victim’s breast and trying to kiss her neck. The two women pulled Voss off the victim and then called 911.

Police say the victim and Voss are acquainted.

According to court records, the victim told police that she heard Voss hit a service dog after it licked him.

A court date for Voss has not been scheduled. He is being held at the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center.
