Hearing continued for man charged with killing two Idaho Falls women in crash

The preliminary hearing of a man charged with killing two women in a crash on 17th Street last weekend was continued Wednesday.

Authorities said Nicholas Perea was driving 60 mph on 17th Street on Saturday and hit another car. Perea is charged with two felony counts of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving.

Authorities said Perea tried to slow down when he went through the intersection but was unable to stop.

Perea originally paid a $300 bond on the reckless driving charge and was released from the Bonneville County Jail, but he is now back in jail on a $50,000 bond.
