Idaho Falls and Bonneville school districts issue statements on creepy clowns

A number of posts about “creepy clowns” coming to hurt students at Idaho Falls and Bonneville school district schools has prompted school leaders to issue statements about the situation.

The Idaho Falls School District 91 is working with Idaho Falls Police to investigate these threats. At this time they have not found anything to substantiate these threats. In a post on their Facebook page Thursday morning, Idaho Falls Police did say one student did bring a clown mask to school to scare friends. That issue is still being investigated.

Bonneville School District issued a similar statement today saying they are working with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department to investigate posts made about the clowns on social media. The sheriff’s office says at this time there is no credible local threat to students.

Both Idaho Falls Police and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department will continue investigations and will be doing additional patrols at schools to maintain student safety. The community is asked to remain calm about the situation. If you see or hear something concerning contact the proper authorities and report the issue.

You can contact Idaho Falls Police or the sheriff’s department at 208-529-1200.
