Student arrested for making clown threats against school

A 14-year-old junior high student has been charged for making clown-related threats against a middle school on social media.

According to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, the Rocky Mountain Junior High School was arrested and cited in juvenile court Thursday for four counts of threats of violence. He was also expelled from school.

Sheriff’s officials say the student created a parody Instagram account using a clown alias and messaged other students at the school saying he would shoot or stab them.

Clown threats have popped up in schools across the country including more than one in Utah this week.
