The National Parks band return to Rexburg

Brigham Young University students lined up Friday night outside the Museum of Rexburg’s tabernacle to welcome the much-anticipated indie folk band, “The National Parks.”

The band played here last June at the Romance Theater on Main Street.

The band is originally from Provo, Utah, and formed in early 2013. The five member band has played in cities like Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City and now Rexburg, Idaho.

Lead singer Brady Parks describes their music as folk-pop songs crafted on acoustic guitar and violin, backed up by rare electronic influences.

BYU-Idaho junior Jenna Chaffee came to watch the concert, and said she’s seen the band play before.

“It’s very happy music. I would love to see more bands like this come to Rexburg, there’s not a lot of music shows here,” Chaffee said.

Lead singer Brady Parks said they’ve toured nationally for the past year, and are looking forward to putting on a good show.

“Being on the road and watching crowds form in different states is really exciting for us,” Parks said.

He adds, “Our world around us is so amazing, so just being able to see the parallels between nature and things like love and relationships ties together and influences our writing.”

The music blends the old with the new by using classical violins, piano and horns, said Parks.

“We just want to keep pushing and reaching people,” Parks said.

The next stop on their tour is heading back to Utah.
