Blackfoot power outage caused when a truck hit a power pole

Update 3:10 p.m: Idaho State Police say a Blackfoot power outage was caused after a man crashed a pickup truck into a power pole on Judicial Street.

James McGrane, 36, of Blackfoot, was driving a 2014 Ram 3500 eastbound on Judicial St when he drove off the road and hit the pole. McGrane was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by ground ambulance to Bingham Memorial in Blackfoot.

Both lanes of Judicial St were blocked for approximately 5 hours while repairs were made to the pole.

Update 1:50 pm: Power has been restored to all customers and the roads that were closed for the power line repairs have been reopened.

Original story: Several roads in Blackfoot are closed while Idaho Power works to repair a downed power pole. Idaho Power says around 41 homes and businesses are without power.

Traffic on Judicial Street is closed near Oak while the power company works on the downed lines.

Idaho Power is estimated that the work should be done no later that 5:00 p.m. tonight. No details yet on what caused the power pole to become damaged.
