Parked cars damaged during police chase

A man trying to run from police crashed into some parked cars Thursday morning.

Idaho Falls police said William Stebelton, 34, tried to stop him for a traffic violation near Woodruff and Kearney around 6:10 a.m.

He took off and police chased him. During the chase, Stebelton crashed into at least two parked vehicles on the 300 block of Ruth, police said.

Stebelton was driving a 2-door hatchback Scion.

Stebelton and his 29-year-old woman passenger were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, police said.

Stebelton is a convicted felon and had in his possession a gun and methamphetamine.

Stebelton is being charged with felony eluding, felon in possession of a firearm, felony possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and failure to purchase a driver’s license.
