Our Pacific storm system has arrived with gusty winds and scattered rain showers. This is a deep plume of Pacific moisture, which will come in waves from the west coast. The first wave of rain and gusty winds is hitting right now for eastern Idaho. Snow levels for this first wave will be about 8,500 feet. Most of the heavy snowfall is expected to hit the Sawtooths and the Sun Valley area. Snow showers are also aiming for the Tetons and the Gros Ventre Range. Just a few scattered showers for Saturday, with the second wave of heavy rain and snow arriving late Saturday and early Sunday. Snow levels for this second wave will drop down to around 7,000 feet. Most of the heavy precipitation will end by late Monday. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the mountains of Teton County, WY. Snowfall amounts of 6″ to 9″ above 8,000 feet. Western winds at 30-40 mph., with gusts nearing 60 mph. Low visibility and difficult driving possible over the Teton Pass. Saturday, a mix of sun and clouds as we see a bit of a break in activity before another storm moves into the area by the evening hours. Breezy with southwest winds from 15-30mph. Chance of rain 40%. Sunday, another soggy day with widespread rains and mountain snow. Highs into the 40’s and 50’s. Chance of rain 40%. Sunday, A 50% chance of rain and mostly cloudy. A high near 55° with winds from the southwest at 20 to 30 mph, gusts as high as 40 mph. Sunday night, rain likely, mainly after midnight. Mostly Cloudy, with a low around 40°.
